Foliome

FAQ

Questions, answered.

If something isn't here, the app itself is the fastest way to find out — most things take less than a minute to try.

Getting started

What is Foliome?

Foliome is a personal portfolio tracker for everything you own — crypto, stocks, ETFs, funds, precious metals, cash, and real estate. It runs as both a Telegram Mini App and a standalone web app, with the same account on either side.

Where do I sign in?

Open the web app and choose Google or email/password, or open the bot in Telegram. You can link both later using a 6-digit code, so the same portfolio shows up everywhere.

Do I have to install anything?

No. The web app runs in any browser and the Telegram Mini App opens inside Telegram itself. There's no separate app to download.

What language is Foliome in?

English, currently. We previously shipped Persian, Arabic, and Russian and may bring them back — but the current build is English-only.

Portfolios

What's a portfolio in Foliome?

A named bucket of assets. Free users get one (called "Main" by default, renameable). Pro users can create as many as they want — for separating retirement from trading, taxable from tax-sheltered, your portfolio from a partner's, or whatever helps you think.

How do I switch between portfolios?

Tap the picker at the top of the home screen, or open Settings → Portfolios. The home screen, class screens, and asset detail screens all rescope to the new active portfolio. The Markets screen, watchlist, and display currency stay account-wide.

Do my Free plan limits apply per portfolio or per account?

Per account. The 5-asset limit on Free is the total across all your portfolios — though as a Free user you only have one portfolio anyway, so the distinction is academic until you upgrade.

Can I move an asset from one portfolio to another?

Not yet — it's on the roadmap. For now the workaround is to delete the asset from the source portfolio, re-add it in the destination, and re-enter your purchase records. Annoying. We know.

Markets and watchlist

What's the difference between Markets and my portfolio?

Your portfolio is what you actually own — quantities, value, P&L. Markets is for tracking prices of things you don't own. The Featured list is curated and identical for everyone; the watchlist is yours alone, with no quantity, no value, just the price.

Does my watchlist count toward the Free plan asset limit?

No. Watchlist size is unlimited on every plan. Add as many tickers as you want — none of them counts against the 5-asset cap, because you don't own them.

Can I add real estate to my watchlist?

No. Markets and watchlist only cover classes with an automated price feed — real estate is self-valued, so there's nothing to "watch" automatically.

Alerts

What kinds of alerts can I set?

Five: a price alert on any ticker; a holding-value alert ("my AAPL position is worth more than $20k"); a holding P&L% alert ("my TSLA is up more than 30%"); a class-value alert ("my crypto exceeds $50k"); and a portfolio-value alert ("my total crosses $250k"). Each can be one-shot or recurring with a cooldown.

Will alerts spam me if a price oscillates around my threshold?

No. Alerts fire on a clean threshold crossing — when the value moves from one side to the other — not on every tick. If a price wobbles around your level for an hour, you get one notification, not hundreds.

How do alerts get delivered?

Through the Foliome Telegram bot, to the Telegram account linked to your profile. We don't currently send email, web push, or SMS. If you only have a web account, link Telegram to receive notifications.

Why didn't my "down more than 10%" alert fire?

Two common reasons. (1) Crossing direction — if the holding was already past −10% when you created the alert, there's no fresh crossing to fire on; it'll fire when the value rises back above −10% and then dips below. (2) No cost basis — if the asset has neither purchases nor history yet, there's no P&L number to evaluate against.

Data and accuracy

How are prices kept up to date?

Crypto refreshes continuously throughout the day. Stocks, ETFs and funds track their exchange's market hours. FX rates refresh multiple times a day. You always read a fresh, consistent value — without the app calling a market on every screen open.

How does P&L work?

If you log purchases, P&L uses your real cost basis — what you paid versus what it's worth now, in your display currency. If you don't, Foliome shows how the asset has moved since the day you added it, marked with a ~ so you can tell at a glance which kind of P&L you're looking at.

What's the percentage on my chart?

It's a time-weighted return over the active range tab — 7D, 30D, 90D, 1Y, or all-time. That means assets you added or removed mid-window don't count as gains or losses; the percentage reflects how your investments performed, not how much money you put in or took out.

Why does my number sometimes look stale?

If a price hasn't refreshed in a while, the asset row shows a small clock. If a market is closed for the night, the asset detail badge says so. Pull-to-refresh updates instantly.

Can I track gold karats and different units?

Yes. Gold has a karat picker — 18k is valued at 18/24 of pure gold's price, and so on. You can also hold metals as troy ounces, grams, or kilograms; the unit is set when you add the asset.

What Foliome doesn't do

Can I import from my broker or wallet?

No. Adding assets is manual. For a handful of holdings that's a 10-minute setup. For hundreds of trades across multiple platforms, a dedicated portfolio aggregator is a better fit.

Does Foliome track dividends or staking yield?

No. If a payout increases your holdings (DRIP, staking rewards), update the quantity manually. We'd rather model income properly later than ship a half-version now.

Can I track sales or realized P&L?

No. There's no "sell" action — you reduce the quantity (or delete the asset if you sold all of it). Foliome shows current-state P&L only, not per-trade history.

Can I track my mortgage or other liabilities?

No. Foliome tracks what you own, not what you owe. Real-estate values are tracked, but the mortgage against the property isn't. Totals are gross asset value, not net worth.

Is Foliome a budgeting app?

No. We don't track spending, categorize transactions, or do anything related to month-to-month cash flow. Cash holdings exist for investment-grade positions (e.g. dollars you're holding while waiting for a buying opportunity), not for monitoring a checking-account balance.

Privacy and security

Is my data private?

Your portfolio is only visible to you. Access is enforced server-side and scoped to your account, so nothing on the client can override it — even if you tried.

Can I delete my account?

Yes — Settings → Delete account. Your logins are locked immediately and everything tied to the account is removed: portfolios, assets, purchase history, alerts, watchlist. There's no grace period and no undo.

Are alerts sent over email?

No. Alerts are delivered through the Telegram bot — no email parsing rules to maintain, no notifications buried in another app.

Still curious?

The fastest way to evaluate Foliome is to add a few assets and see your balance roll up in real time.
